Manners for Ages 11-13: Social II

They may not say it, but we find that this age group is very concerned about knowing how to act in new situations. We build on what you’ve already taught them, and help them really connect with the idea that self-confidence comes from being respected because you are respectful. A workbook is included for each student.

This class divides the curriculum between social education and dance education. The social education includes instruction on the following topics: the ABC’s of table manners, napkins, silverware, china and crystal, extending and receiving invitations, host/hostess and guest duties, the do’s and don’ts of dining, tipping and thank-you notes. Social II students learn Fast Food Manners: during one class we work on how to place an order, pay for it and how to interact with restaurant personnel. The following week we provide a treat from a local fast food restaurant and work on table manners.

The dance education portion of this class includes additional line dances, additional steps to the Fox Trot, Waltz and Shag.
